THE SYSTEM BEHIND A CONNECTED JOBSITE

Every detail.
One connected build.

Give BuildTether your plans and product lists. AI helps research exact model numbers, find manufacturer documents and organize the right details into each room—then helps turn field notes and work scope into records and schedules you can review and use.

Cancel anytime. Cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged.

NOT JUST A CODE. THE SYSTEM BEHIND IT.

Less “can you send that?”
More getting on with the job.

A QR code is the doorway. BuildTether organizes what’s on the other side.

  1. 01 / ORGANIZE

    Give every detail a home.

Upload plans and selection schedules. AI reads the set, extracts listed models, researches official documents and proposes room assignments for your review.

  2. 02 / CONNECT

Post a code. Or send a link.

For example, an electrician can open the bathroom’s lighting plans and fixture details without searching the entire set.

  3. 03 / KEEP CURRENT

    Update the information.

Keep the same printed code. Share current approved details with trades and clients as the build moves forward.

FROM THE FIRST PLAN TO THE FINAL HANDOFF

The pieces of a build.
Finally, together.

See what each tool takes off your plate—from researching an exact fixture model to turning a spoken walkthrough into room-by-room photo notes.

AI project & plan organizer01

From a plan set to an organized job.

Upload approved plans and selection schedules. AI identifies rooms, extracts listed products, and proposes which sheets belong in each room. Original sheet numbers and titles stay intact, with easier field names alongside them. Review the draft, then build the project without sorting every page yourself.

Product research & room assignments02

It searches the model numbers for you.

AI extracts listed model numbers or researches the ones you enter, then looks for exact matches on manufacturer websites. It gathers official product pages, specifications and installation instructions when available, and proposes the rooms where they belong. Missing documents and uncertain matches are flagged for your review.

Field Camera & Smart Field Notes03

Walk the job. Let your notes catch up.

Take photos while speaking and name each room as you enter it. Field Camera uses photo times and your recorded words to draft a note, caption, room, trade and priority for each picture. For a single instruction, Smart Field Notes organizes a typed or spoken note with optional photos. Review before posting.

Living Schedule04

Your scope becomes a schedule draft.

Upload an estimate and choose a start date. AI uses the work scope to draft activities, sequence and dependencies in an editable Gantt chart. See parallel work, milestones and the critical path. Describe a change by voice or text, review the proposed revision, then apply it. Print full-size or across regular sheets.

Daily logs & schedule impacts05

Keep the reason behind the delay.

Record weather, workforce, completed work, deliveries, delays and photos in the daily jobsite log. Keep the day’s facts together with their schedule impact, then review suggested timeline changes. When someone asks why the job moved, the field record and the proposed adjustment are there to review.

Window & door order checker06

Check the order against the plans.

Upload a supplier’s window or exterior-door order and confirm the governing plan revision already saved in your project. AI compares sizes, quantities, opening directions and missing items. Findings include document and page references so you can investigate the discrepancy before ordering. You make the final call.

Room pages & permanent QR codes07

One room. One lasting doorway.

Publish the room’s approved plans, researched product documents, photos and notes behind one permanent QR code. Organize the details by trade so the plumber and electrician can find what each needs. Update the information without replacing the printed code; visitors can view shared details with a phone camera or link.

Plan & photo markups08

Show the detail. Keep the original.

Mark up a plan or photo to make a location, concern or instruction visible. Save the annotated version separately so the original remains available. Choose whether that record belongs on the field QR page, with the project team, with the owner/client, or only with the contractor.

Team access & client collaboration09

Bring people in without losing control.

Give designers, trades, project managers and clients access appropriate to their role. Controlled portal links let contributors send questions, files and proposed updates. The contractor reviews contributions before publishing, keeping internal working material separate from the information approved for the field or client.

Jobsite time clock10

A time record tied to the jobsite.

Workers clock in and out through a shared QR code with their name and private PIN, or through a personal link. Location is captured at the punch, without background tracking. Manager corrections keep a reason and audit trail so an adjusted time record still tells the story.

Standard Building Procedures11

Put your way of building in writing.

Customize procedures from the library or write your own jobsite rules, quality standards and inspection-readiness checks. Keep them in a private project manual with revisions, official references and archived history. Share a secure project link, print the procedures or export them to a spreadsheet.

Help & issue reporting12

Help that knows the tools.

Use the FAQs and step-by-step tutorials, or ask the Help Assistant how a BuildTether feature works. It draws on the app’s support guide and directs you to customer service when needed. Report a fault through the assistant to create an issue record and alert the owner. It provides guidance; it does not change your project.

Guided Behind-the-Wall Record13

Record it before the walls close.

Select room plans so AI can suggest wall directions and capture zones, then verify the guide. Record a video of each zone; BuildTether extracts stills and can suggest captions and image-quality warnings. Review what to keep, then save the original videos, selected stills, notes and coverage checklist privately with the room.

Photo & video archive14

Keep the bigger picture of the build.

Store general job photos and videos in a project archive organized by month, separate from detailed room records. Adjust dates and captions, filter the media, and share a file, month or archive through a link you can turn off. Shared albums contain the files selected when the link was created.

Operations checklists & reports15

Turn follow-through into a record.

Customize an operations checklist, name the responsible team member, track completed tasks, and add daily notes or a weekly report. Save it with the project, share a secure link, print it or export an Excel-compatible spreadsheet. Daily logs and time records also support printing and spreadsheet exports.

You stay in control.

Review AI suggestions, edit the details and choose what gets shared. Keep internal work internal and publish the information your clients and trades need.

Start with the work your project needs. Keep the source documents, review the suggestions, and publish the details your team is ready to use.

THE PURPOSE BEHIND BUILDTETHER

Built around the
realities of construction.

“Can you send me
the specs?”

BuildTether grew out of firsthand experience managing construction projects—the repeated requests for specifications, scattered selections, and time spent getting the right information to the right person.

Founder Andy Edwards brings the perspective of his work leading Standard West Builders, an Oceanside-based construction company whose work includes custom homes, ADUs, additions, major remodels and commercial improvements across North County San Diego. Coordinating that work means bringing plans, trades, materials and client decisions together through each phase of a project.

That experience helps guide BuildTether’s direction: tools that research product details, organize information by room, and keep the field connected as the job changes. The goal is to give everyone involved a clearer picture of what needs to happen and the information to do their part.

With thanks to the team behind it.

With thanks to the development team who helped bring BuildTether together, and to the family, friends and fellow contractors who contributed ideas, practical insights and encouragement. Those contributions have helped shape both the product and its purpose.

Construction takes people working together. That same spirit is behind BuildTether: less time chasing information, more time moving the work forward together.

A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING

Before your first build.

What is BuildTether?

BuildTether helps do the preparation behind a well-run job: reading the plans, researching the product models, gathering manufacturer documents and organizing the details into the rooms where people need them. It combines that AI-assisted preparation with field records, a working schedule and controlled sharing in one construction workspace.

Built around the realities of construction, BuildTether grew out of firsthand experience with the work behind “can you send me the specs?” Finding the exact model, tracking down its installation manual, checking which room it belongs in, then sending it again to the next trade. The software helps take that repeated searching, sorting and typing off your plate, while leaving the decisions with you.

  • AI reads the plans and prepares the room structure. Upload your approved plan set and appliance, fixture or finish schedules. It identifies rooms, suggests readable sheet names while preserving the original references, and proposes the relevant plan pages and listed products for each room. You can correct the assignments before creating the organized project.
  • It researches exact model numbers and brings the documents back to the room. AI works from the models in your uploaded schedules or the ones you enter. It searches for official manufacturer product pages, specs and installation instructions, then proposes where to file them. A kitchen appliance’s information can stay together for the cabinetmaker, plumber and electrician. Unclear model matches or missing manuals are flagged, so you can resolve them before publishing.
  • Your walkthrough becomes organized photo notes. Speak while taking pictures and say the room name as you move. Field Camera matches the timing of your words to each photo and drafts its note, caption, room, trade and priority. Smart Field Notes handles a single spoken or typed instruction. Review the drafts instead of writing up the entire visit afterward.
  • Capture what will be hidden before drywall goes up. The Guided Behind-the-Wall Record uses selected plans to suggest a room capture guide for you to verify. Videos become reviewable stills with optional AI captions and quality warnings. Keep originals, selected images, notes and a coverage checklist in the room’s private record. General job photos and videos have their own monthly project archive with controlled sharing.
  • Keep existing 3D scans with the room record. Already using a separate LiDAR or 3D scanning app? Attach its shared scan link or an exported 3D file alongside the room’s photos and notes. Shared links open in the original provider’s viewer; uploaded files are saved for download. BuildTether organizes the scan record without requiring you to replace your scanning tool.
  • An estimate becomes the starting point for a living schedule. AI uses the estimate’s work scope and your start date to propose activities and dependencies. Edit the Gantt chart, see the critical path, and describe later changes by voice or text to get a proposed revision. Daily logs preserve weather, deliveries, workforce, work completed and delays alongside schedule impacts.
  • Supplier orders get a check against your project’s plans. The window and exterior-door checker compares an uploaded order with your selected plan revision, flags possible differences in size, quantity, opening direction or missing items, and provides source references for your review.
  • The approved information reaches the people doing the work. A permanent room QR code opens the organized plans, product documents, photos and notes you choose to share. Changes appear behind that same code. Separate team and client access lets people contribute questions, files and proposed updates without publishing them before your review.
  • Keep employee time records connected to the jobsite. Employees clock in and out from their phones using a shared jobsite QR code with their name and private PIN, or a saved personal clock link. BuildTether requests a location reading at each punch, so the time record includes where it was submitted, without tracking movement between punches or off duty. Managers can correct a missed punch using the actual time and a reason, with an audit trail that preserves the correction history.
  • Everyday job controls stay with the project. Save plan and photo markups separately from originals, and customize a private operating manual of jobsite rules, quality standards and inspection-readiness procedures. These tools keep the field record and your expectations in one place.
  • Track follow-through and take the records with you. Create project checklists with a responsible team member, completion status and daily notes or weekly reports. Print or save PDFs, share secure links, or export Excel-compatible spreadsheets. Daily logs and employee time records also have print and spreadsheet export options for review outside BuildTether.
  • People have somewhere to turn for help. FAQs, tutorials and an app-specific Help Assistant explain how to use the tools. The assistant can record a reported fault and alert the owner, or direct the user to customer service when more help is needed.

Coming soon: Bid Desk, estimating & job costing.

The next step is to connect the business side of the build—from finding the right vendors and getting comparable bids to preparing an estimate and understanding what the job actually costs. Bid Desk is in private testing. The capabilities below are planned for the expanded workspace and are not yet available on customer plans.

  • Your vendor and subcontractor directory. Keep contacts organized by trade, service area and the work they provide, with pricing history and notes, so you can build on the relationships you already trust.
  • One bid package, sent to multiple selected vendors. Prepare the scope, relevant plan links and a response deadline once. Choose the vendors, review the recipients and details, then send requests in a batch from your connected business email. Share links to plans and supporting documents instead of repeatedly attaching large files.
  • Bids you can compare and follow up. Bring requested prices, received quotes, inclusions, exclusions and follow-up dates into one view. Review what each vendor has actually allowed for, then carry the selected quote into your estimate without retyping it.
  • AI-assisted estimates with regional cost references. Use project scope and room quantities to prepare an editable estimate draft. Planned regional material and labor benchmarks would help you check allowances against the job’s location, with sources and dates shown for review. Adjust quantities, apply your own pricing and markup, and confirm costs against current supplier and subcontractor quotes.
  • Job costing that connects the estimate to the work. Compare the original budget, committed costs and actual spending by job and trade. Track cost changes as the build progresses so you can see where allowances are being used, where overruns are developing and how they affect the expected margin.
  • Your worksheets, connected to the process. Keep reviewed quotes and estimate details in private worksheets, preserve familiar workbook layouts, and export records for review and sharing. The aim is less duplicate entry between the bid, the estimate and the job-cost record.

You’re paying for the work behind an organized jobsite: help turning a stack of plans, product lists and field updates into information your team can actually use. AI prepares and proposes; you review, correct and approve. That means less time rebuilding the same answer—and more time building the job.

Do people scanning room QR codes need an app?

No. They can use a normal phone camera or open a shared link to view the information you have made available. Team members sign in to contribute, and you control what clients and visitors can see.

What happens when a plan or selection changes?

Update the published information behind the room QR code. The printed code stays in place, and the next scan opens the current published details.

Can designers use BuildTether with the contractor?

Yes. Designers can participate as Team Members, helping keep selections, product details, photos and room notes connected to the build. Access depends on the permissions assigned by the project administrator.

Does AI make the final decisions?

No. AI helps organize documents, prepare notes, flag potential discrepancies and draft schedules. The contractor reviews the information, finalizes the details and decides what to publish.

What is free, and how does the trial work?

Independent QR tools are always free. Management has a 30-day trial with a payment card, then renews at the selected plan price. Founder pricing starts at $24 per month while the subscription stays active. Cancel anytime. Cancel before the trial ends and you won’t be charged.
